The History Behind IIHAS
Isimila Institute of Health and Allied Sciences (IIHAS) is a private health training institution established to address the growing demand for qualified health professionals in Tanzania. The idea for the institute was conceived in 2010, with the initial application to establish a nursing school submitted to the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
Key milestones in the development of IIHAS include:
2010–2011: Received a no-objection letter from TNMC to establish a nursing school. Applied for registration with the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET).
2012–2013: Conducted stakeholder meetings and strategic plan development. Received provisional registration from NACTVET.
2016–2017: Official enrollment of students began. Application submitted for full accreditation and expansion of programs.
22 June 2017: Officially registered by NACTVET under Registration Number REG/HAS/131.
2024: Granted Full Accreditation by NACTVET (effective from 31st July 2024) as a recognized institution for health and allied science education.
2024–2026: New programs introduced, including Diplomas in Clinical Medicine, Physiotherapy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Medical Laboratory Sciences.
IIHAS is owned and managed by Ms. Jane Cyprian Kalinga, a dedicated health professional with over ten years of nursing experience. Her vision has guided the institution’s growth into a respected center for health sciences education, located in Iringa Municipal Council, Tanzania.
